DeepHealth at European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) 2020

With a central theme “Building a strong European Data and AI Ecosystem”, the EBDVF 2020 edition brings together the German and European communities on AI and Data. EBDVF 2020 aims to continue the success of the previous editions, which were attended on average by 600 participants and especially industry professionals, business developers, researchers, and policymakers coming from over 40 countries. This year event was held online, 3-5 Nov. 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Members of the DeepHealth project took part in the flagship event of the European Big Data and Data-Driven AI Research and Innovation community organized by the BDVA and the European Comission and presented DeepHealth aspects during the following three (3) sessions:

  • Focus Track 1: European Data Spaces – Main session, Nov. 3rd, 2020, 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Evaluation schemes for Big data and AI Performance of high Business impact (DataBench project sponsored session), Nov. 4th, 2020, 11:15-12:15 Session 2. A Project perspective on Big Data and AI architectural pipelines and benchmarks

Parallel Session on AI in Healthcare, Nov. 4th, 2020, 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM.

More specifically, Jon Ander from UPV, presented a very interesting use case for identification and diagnosis of skin lesion images, the use case nº 12 of the DeepHealth project which is based on the International Skin Imaging Collaboration dataset, as an example to discuss DeepHealth perspective on Big Data and AI architectural pipelines and benchmarks. Amalia Ntemou from WINGS ICT Solutions and  Monica Caballero from EVERIS participated on a  Parallel session on AI in Healthcare, which was focused to present the AI in Healthcare whitepaper written by the Healthcare subgroup of the Application Task force of BDVA. Amalia Ntemou presented the importance and key areas of AI in Healthcare, and Monica Caballero introduced some successful use-cases, including DeepHealth, and some of its pilots. The session is available on the EBDF2020 official YouTube Channel:
